Simon Stead says doubling-up with Belle Vue Aces next season is a perfect move for him.

Stead, recently announced as a full Sheffield asset, will be available for all Tigers fixtures but will also ride for the Manchester club in the Elite League.

It’s a return to Kirkmanshulme Lane for Stead who raced for the club in 2005 alongside Australian star Jason Crump and he went on to win the Knockout Cup there.

Now he’s relishing the prospect of riding in two leagues; he will be alongside Grand Prix star Matej Zagar in Manchester and record breaking British title holder Scott Nicholls. Stead said: “It’s the perfect situation for me to be riding at Belle Vue next year. It felt like the right time to go back and I’m really pleased things have worked out. It was tough getting back into my racing last season after being out for so long with injury, but being able to double up with Sheffield definitely helped my confidence.

“Sometimes you need a kick up the backside to get yourself motivated and I’ve put in a lot of work both on and off the track to put those injuries behind me. I’m so pleased to be with Sheffield and I couldn’t have wished for a better scenario than to ride for Belle Vue. I will give my all for both clubs, everyone knows that.

“I’m confident I can do a good job for both. I’d like to thank Leicester for having me there last season, it was nice to be a part of their first season in the Elite League – but now I’m putting all my efforts into Sheffield and Belle Vue.”
