Tigers chiefs have labelled Jason Garrity the signing of the season after a string of impressive results.
Garrity was originally brought in as a replacement for the injured David Bellego.
But when Bellego was fit again, Garrity was able to remain in place following the departure of Ty Proctor who was forced to return to Australia.
Garrity has continued to pile up the points for his Elite League club Coventry and is already a firm favourite on the Owlerton terraces.
And club co-owner Damien Bates said: “Jason has been like a breath of fresh air, his attitude is first class and we enjoy having him at the club.
“He’s an all-action rider who never knows when he is beaten and I think the Sheffield fans like that, they see a rider giving his all.
“It’s nice to have him at Sheffield and perhaps, with hindsight, we should have made more of a play for him at the start of the season – but we were more than happy with the team we had back in March.”
Garrity and the rest of the Sheffield side are back in action this Thursday at Owlerton when they face rivals Workington in an important Premier League clash.
Another three points would keep Sheffield’s play-off hopes very much alive as they look to book a top six spot.
Bates said: “The lads are in a confident mood after the big win over Newcastle so we will be looking to keep that going.
“Everyone has been chipping in with vital points so we just need to keep things ticking over and hopefully that will be enough for a top six finish.
“I’m expecting a good meeting on Thursday, Workington will come here and give it a real go. There should be some excellent racing once again.”
Sheffield are working on a guest replacement for injured skipper Simon Stead.
