Patched up Sheffield were no match for Peterborough as they suffered a 53-37 away defeat.
Already without Simon Stead, Andre Compton and Ashley Birks due to injury, Tigers were also weakened due to in-form reserve Josh Bates struggling with illness. Although he battled on, the youngster managed just two points, and with partner Arthur Sissis seeing his difficult run continue, they lacked lower order strength.
After conceding 5-1s in heats three and four, the visitors struggled to recover – and when guest Eddie Kennett was left trailing as he took their tactical ride in heat 11 it ended their hopes of a point. Kennett put in a strong showing, claiming four victories including a spectacular heat 13 triumph as Tigers came on strong in the closing stages, whilst Jason Garrity provided the race of the night as he prevailed in a scintillating battle with Nicklas Porsing in heat nine.
However, with David Bellego and Kevin Doolan enduring nights to forget Tigers notched only six race wins and ran nine last places.
Despite a disappointing two days, Sheffield remain on course for a Premier League play-off spot.
They will host a challenge match against Cradley at Owlerton on Thursday (7.30) before returning to league action at home against Rye House a week later on July 30.
