Plucky Sheffield Tigers crashed to a 51-42 defeat at Plymouth last night.
The Tigers were optimistic of getting something from their trip to Devon but were immediately weakened when new signing Danny Maassen failed to make his first two races after getting stuck in traffic on the M25.
The Devils dominated from the off and it never looked like Sheffield would be able to force their way to a league point, despite the best efforts of Ricky Wells and Richard Lawson.
The brilliant Wells bagged a mammoth 19 points while guest Lawson notched paid-16, but it wasn’t enough for the Tigers as they left empty handed.
Tigers scorers: Wells 19, Lawson 15+1, Compton 4+1, Lambert 2+1, Maassen 2, Albin 0, Roynon R/R)
