Sheffield Tigers are desperate to end their losing sequence when they face Leicester in tonight’s Premier League clash at Owlerton.
And they will have to do it without inspirational skipper Simon Stead who has been forced to admit defeat in his battle to return from hand and shoulder injuries. Stead will also miss tomorrow’s Premier League Pairs Championship at Somerset. Rye House man Olly Allen has agreed to step in as a guest replacement.
Tigers owner Neil Machin is under no illusions at the size of the task facing his team.
He said: “Although we snatched a 12-point victory against the Lions last month in the League Cup, they are on a roll with victories at Glasgow and Plymouth recently that have projected them to the top of the Premier League table.
“In contrast we showed much promise early in the season only to falter, look very average and slide down the league table - and we all know that cannot be allowed to continue.
“Leicester are an excellent side but it’s vital we stop the rot in front of our home fans.”
