Sheffield Steelers’ rollercoaster season is approaching its final, dramatic journey.

After collecting the Elite League championship trophy last weekend, pipping Cardiff Devils courtesy of the amount of games they had won in regulation time, they have embarked on a mission to win the double.

On Tuesday, Ben Simon’s side put one foot into the Play Off semi finals by hammering Dundee Stars 6-1.

This coming Saturday, they should amble past Stars in the second leg of the quarter final, in Scotland.

Simon has praised his players - and rightly so - for winning the league after a season which has witnessed incredible financial turmoil off the ice.

Winning the Play Offs, at Nottingham, the weekend after next, would put the top hat on an astonishing achievement for Simon.

The team will go into this weekend buoyed by the form of Joey Talbot and Jeff Legue, whose partnership has once again excelled this season.

However, the club will go through chance at the end of the 2010-11 campaign.

One fewer import will be allowed next season and coach Simon has yet to accept a new contract that appears to be less than he is earning currently.

Meanwhile Sheffield Steeldogs host Basingstoke Bison at iceSheffield on Sunday (5.30pm) - the final home game of the regular season. Tickets available on the night: Adult £8, Concession £6, Child £3 (Under-8 free) and Family £18.

The Early Bird Season Ticket offer is now available to all fans at this season’s prices and can be reserved with a 25 per cent deposit until the end of April.
