Title race in Hallam’s hands

Sheffield Hallam men’s first team will be presented with the EHL Men’s Conference North title this weekend if they win both their matches, after victory over leaders Bowdon last weekend.

Hallam play already-relegated Preston on Saturday, and on Sunday they host Abbeydale.

Goals from Phil Roper and Adam Harriman were enough to secure a 2-1 success over Bowdon, and now the destination of the league title is well and truly in Sheffield’s hands.

Hallam’s second team will be disappointed after a 6-2 defeat to bottom club Kingston-upon-Hull, but can regain some face when they play Leeds at Abbeydale Park this Saturday (11.30am start).

The thirds drew 4-4 with Hull Uni on Saturday, before losing 4-1 at Leeds on Sunday, and the fifth side drew 1-1 at league champions Airedale.

They now face Leeds Adel Carnegie on Saturday, and play Huddersfield Dragons on Sunday.

Two wins should see them safe from relegation - anything less will put them in trouble.

Hallam’s sixth side finished their season with a 5-0 battering of Worksop, which leaves them two points clear in top spot.

Second-placed Lincoln have games in hand, however, and could yet nick the title.

Hallam’s sevenths lost 4-1 at Kingston-upon-Hull, and the eighths drew 1-1 against Worksop.
