Around 184 primary schools from Sheffield and Rotherham are set to compete in the Drax Cup, the biggest cricket competition for Under-9s in the country.
Matches begin after Easter and last until July with the finals played at Headingley Carnegie Stadium, Leeds on Sunday, July 3 before Yorkshire’s Friends Provident Twenty20 Cup clash against Notts.
Now in its fifth year, the competition is sponsored by Drax Power Limited and organised by The Yorkshire County Cricket Club in conjunction with the Yorkshire Cricket Board and Yorkshire School’s Cricket Association.
Yorkshire CCC captain Andrew Gale is ambassador for the Cup together with Barnsley’s Yorkshire and England fast bowler Katherine Brunt.
