PREVIEW: Wentworth Festival full line-up and how to get tickets

WENTWORTH Festival this weekend includes an all-star line-up including The Feeling, The Cast, rising local band Bang Bang Romeo plus TV comedians Steve Royle and Justin Moorhouse - here’s how to still get tickets.

BUY TICKETS: The online box office is now closed but tickets are still available from Wentworth Village Shop (7am to 4pm) and The Horseshoe, Harley (4pm to 10pm).

But buy now. Tickets will not be available on the gate for the festival, which takes pace in the beautiful gardens of Wentworth Woodhouse, on the border of Rotherham and Barnsley, on Saturday, September 18.

In order to secure the future of the event for the next 10 years it needs to sell out and there are still some tickets go.

Festival bosses and radio presenters Toby Foster and Steve White, so passionate about guaranteeing the future of the event, have even been hand delivering tickets to festival-goers' doors this week.

They also launched a #tellamate campaign to encourage fbas of the event to tell their friends to go.

"Tickets will not be available on the gate! So it’s vital that, if you plan on coming, you grab yours as soon as you can this week,' they said in a joint statement.

"We are incredibly excited for the return of Wentworth Festival… Less than a week to go!"

“This has been the hardest year ever. Not just for us, for everyone. We want to make our festival on September 18 the biggest day ever.

"All of our feedback is brilliant. If you want to help us this year, and move us on to the next step which is making the festival a full weekend, then it's so easy. Please #tellamate."

So who is on stage this year?

Headlining the main music stage is Fill My Little World hitmakers The Feeling, fronted by Dan Gillespie Sells, who also wrote new award-winning musical Everybody’s Talking About Jamie.

Their greatest hits also include Never Be Lonely, Love It When You Call, Rose, I Thought It Was Over and debut top 10 single, Sewn.Indie rockers Cast, labelled as The Who of the 90’s, are also playing – they were endorsed by Noel Gallagher who once described watching them play live as “a religious experience.”

Originally formed in 1992m from the ashes of guitar bands, The La’s and Shack, Cast have released four albums, three went top 10, and they had top 10 singles, including Flying, Sandstorm and Free Me, Guiding Star, Live the Dream.

They disbanding in 2001 but a decade later in 2012, the bands' original line-up reunited and they keep turning out hit records.

Female Of The Species hitmakers Space will appear also be appearing – they are one of the most successful bands from that whole Britpop era.There wasn’t a festival during the 90’s they didn’t play at, sharing the stage with both Blur and Oasis, at the height of their success.Their debut album Spiders sold almost a million copies within a year and spawned huge chart hits also including Neighbourhood, Dark Clouds and Me And You Versus The World. Further hits followed with We’ve Gotta Get Outta This Place and the duet with Cerys Matthews of Catatonia, The Ballad Of Tom Jones.South Yorkshire’s own rising stars Bang Bang Romeo will take the stage after first hoping to appear at Wentworth Festival in 2019, but were booked to support PINK on tour.

Fronted by vocal powerhouse Anastasia Walker and featuring guitarist Ross Cameron and drummer Richard Gartland, Bang Bang Romeo are a propelling force for female-fronted bands in a male dominated music industry.Her voice in unrivalled and the group’s larger than life performances are sending audiences wild up and down the country, leaving them with jaws dropped and often reduced to tears.For over two decades Dario G has produced dance anthems that have become famous across the world, meaning you will instantly be familiar with his work.It all started when debut hit Sunchyme became the soundtrack to the scorching summer of 1997. He has been the lead vocalist for Living In A Box, replacing original singer Richard Darbyshire, meaning Kenny is now in demand for concerts and festivals across the world both with the band and as a solo artist.Hazell Dean scored a string of massive dance hits in the 1980’s and established herself as the global Queen Of Clubs with Searchin’ (I Gotta Find A Man), Whatever I Do (Wherever I Go) and the song Florida dance stations dubbed the Miami Anthem, They Say It’s Gonna Rain.

Due to increased popular demand, Soul Sensation will be back for their third successive year at Wentworth Festival. Fronted by American Cris Quammie, who now resides in the UK and whose fans include Lenny Kravitz and Motown founder Berry Gordy, Soul Sensation know exactly how to take the party to another level and that is why we can’t wait to have them back in 2020.

Madness tribute band, Complete Madness will also get the crowd singing and dancing to hits Baggy Trousers, One Step Beyond, House Of Fun, Embarrassment, Night Boat To Cairo, It Must Be Love, Driving In My Car, My Girl, Our House, Wings Of A Dove…

The The Last Laugh Comedy Stage will be full of household and rising stars including Britain’s Got Talent 2020 live finalist and runner-up Steve Royle andPeter Kay’s Phoenix Nights star Justin Moorhouse, whowas a huge hit at Wentworth 2019.

Also on the comedy bill is Susan Murray, who emerged as one of the best female stand ups in the UK and has played festivals including Glastonbury, Reading, V and Download.

Other comedians to watch include Jack Carroll, hailed byDavid Walliams as a ‘comedy genius’, Lancashire’s Brennan Reece, who was nominated for Best Show at the Australian Fringe in 2016, Beth Black, known for performing black comedy, who starred alongside Peter Capaldi in Doctor Who, award winning Nina Gilligan and Paul ‘Silky’ White, whose TV appearances include The Stand Up Show for the BBC, The World Stands Up on Paramount and the Comics Lounge in Australis.

The new music stage will feature Barnsley’s own Bad Luv, Sheffield trio The Floodhounds, indie four-piece Henderson, Leeds newcomers Kath and the Kicks, Rotherham trio Long Story Short, Tom Jackson and Cry.
