This is the final week of our ‘My Sheffield’ theme. Next week I will set a new topic that you can follow to be in with a chance of winning a Harrison Cameras voucher.
I have really enjoyed seeing your entries pouring in, Sheffield really does have a creative bunch of photographers out there.
Whether you consider yourselves professionals or amateurs, your imaginations are apparent in the hundreds of entries we have received. The winner and runner-up will be announced here but there is still time to enter so get snapping. For International Women’s Day I have showcased for you some of our female entries.
I have also seen some excellent night photography entries coming in. One reader proved you don’t always need a tripod to hand. He found a wall to balance his camera on to create a stable base for his slow shutter speed. I would always recommend using the self-timer to reduce any movement.
I hope you have enjoyed looking through the images so far. We never have room to publish them all, so don’t assume your entry hasn’t won if it hasn’t been printed yet. Harrison Cameras will be judging all entries after the March 16 closing date.
Think outside the box and capture something unusual by Simon Grason
We’re into the final week of the competition to win a Canon Powershot G9X mark II, so it’s your last chance to get your entries in before the judging begins.
My advice to In Focus members this week would be to do your best to think outside the box and capture something a little bit unusual. Spring is approaching and the days are getting longer -it isn’t long until the clocks go forward now - so there’s still plenty of opportunity to find that winning image.
At Harrison Cameras on London Road we’re busy putting together our plans for summer events and photography workshops.
We’ll be covering all areas of photography from portrait/studio, landscape, wildlife, street and macro in the workshops, so if you’re interested in taking your photography to the next level keep an eye on our website and Facebook page for more information in the near future.
I’ll also be putting together some special events for In Focus club members to take part in, so watch this space for more details over the coming months.
As a special offer this week we’re offering a Dorr Merkur astroscope which normally costs £84.95 but is available at half price for InFocus members. Hurry, it is only while stocks last.
