Starbursts and twinkles lighting up the night skies.

We are approaching our final week for our light theme. Next week we will announce the winners, and our new theme, but this week I can show a few more of your great shots.

I’m sure a few of you went along to a firework display and took photos. John Scholey has sent in this great image of a burst that fills the frame. It is really tricky to shoot fireworks but he has managed to get this image without the sky filled with smoke trails.

Andrew Senior has taken this ghostly image of trees with the light peeping through to cause foreground shadows leading you through the frame.

Robert Nixon Betts and Bob Merryweather have both taken images of landmarks in our city by night. Robert has captured the class of Tudor Square with our illuminated theatres and Bob has gone for a more unusual landmark, the Mecca building on Pond Street. They have both ensured their exposures are correct so they keep the colours of the lights true without bleaching them out.

Bob has also sent in this abstract view of the wave outside the station. The light from nearby buildings reflects nicely in the water creating these colourful lines.

Another image from John Scholey also shows off our city beautifully with this over view cityscape. The orangy hue from the lights gives me a warm feeling.

Keep sending your entries until Tuesday November 28 and Harrison Cameras will judge them for next week.

In the meantime be sure to visit the Winter Garden to look around Sheffield Photographic Society’s 13th annual Perspectives exhibition. There is some excellent work by their talented members.
