I visited The Photography Show over the weekend and saw all the shiny new technology in the photography world. I also noticed that film revival is on the up. People are wanting to recreate that retro look that snapshop film cameras gave off. Its the in thing to recreate the light leaks and vignetting and those wierd colour casts. All this can now be done in the post processing stage of a digital image though. I have selected two images from Andrew Senior who has supplied photos reminiscent of times past. He has taken modern images of a grandad and son and a tap room and made them look like they were taken in the 1970s. As our theme is age I thought they represented this not just from their content but how he has managed to age the look of the photos.

John Gorman has also touched me with his nostalgic photo of a veteran dancing. You can almost imagine this scene of the gent as a young soldier on leave, dancing with his young lady. The photo of the flags hanging in the cathedral has also been taken by John. The Cathedral has a great collection of historical pieces and these flags can be found in the memorial chapel. John tells me it is dedicated to the York and Lancaster Regiment which formed in 1758 and disbanded in 1968. The flags are the Regimental Colours which were awarded to the Regiment during the 19th and 20th centuries.

John Scholey has also been challenged by the theme of age this month. He has titled this one ‘age old friends’ and it brought a lump to my throat. True friendship lasts a lifetime. I will end on his photo of an abandoned shoe. Shoes are found in the most unusual places. Clearly this old shoe was no longer needed.

Keep sending in your photos until Tuesday 27th and I will announce the winner next week.
