Simon Dell’s micro garden has really interested the wildlife. We saw squirrels with a shopping trolley full of nuts a few months ago and now a family of mice have moved into the cottage. I love how Simon has managed to convert his garden into a scene from Tales of the Riverbank.

John Leigh has also managed to capture nature up close with a wren collecting to build a nest.

John Scholey has taken a wider view point and has captured a typical allotment garden scene. This lucky gardener has the best view over the city too. I can’t wait to get my veg planted out after seeing this shot. Not everyone has their own garden or allotment but we can all appreciate some of the city’s many free gardens, and John has shown the Winter Garden at its best with its regular entertainment.

Bob Merryweather has sent in this image of his greenhouse in ‘sunnier times’. The plants are back-lit and foreground slightly silhouetted as the low sun hits the glass.

Finally John Gorman has sent in one of my favourite things, the blossom trees in the Peace Gardens. He has, however, shot them with a different background to what most people would shoot. I like it when I see fresh images that haven’t been done before. He has chosen the cool hue of the office windows to complement the white blossom, creating a balanced image.

We are now in our final week of the ‘in the garden’ theme, to be judged by Harrison Cameras on Tuesday, April 24.

The winner will receive a £25 voucher for their store and runner up gets an 18x12 print. The weather is picking up so get your camera and get inspired.
