A Sheffield florist has swapped her secateurs for a pen to write a children’s book about her beloved pet dog.

Sarah Adshead, owner of Sarah’s Florist on Middlewood Road, Hillsborough, has written Meet Mr Brock - a tale about the terrier she adopted from animal charity Rain Rescue.

Sarah, aged 37, who lives near Penistone, is now seeking someone to help her publish the book.

Proceeds raised from sales of the story with go to the charity, which finds new homes for abused, neglected and stray dogs and cats from around South Yorkshire.

The book is based on Brock’s life - how he leaves an unhappy home, knows little about road safety and gets knocked over by a car and then finds a new home with the help of Rain Rescue.

Sarah said: “I’ve never done anything like this before.

“I’m rubbish at spelling and got an E grade in English, but this is something I really wanted to do.

“I started it about a year ago. Brock is such a special little dog and I thought if I don’t have a go I will never know if I’d be good at it.

“I did some sketches and showed them to friends and wrote a brief story.

“A lot of stuff happened this year and I didn’t have time to finish it. Then I found my work about a month ago.

“I put them all together in a book, which I made myself online with the images and sketches on.

“I showed it my friends and they said it was really good.

“I’m hoping to sell it to family and friends.”
