The bank holiday may be over, but it’s still Easter in Ecclesall Road...
Shoppers are being invited to join in a week-long egg hunt designed to boost community spirit and raise funds for Sheffield charity Neurocare into the bargain.
The event is being organised by Kate Shepherd and Anne White who run chocolate shop Cocoa.
“We’ve done an egg hunt before in the Botanical Gardens, but we wanted to bring the local community together,” said Kate.
“Rather than doing it last week, when lots of people are away, we thought we’d do it next week and brighten everyone up. Fancy dress and hopping are encouraged!”
The Chocolate Hop starts on Monday and players have until Friday to complete the hunt.
Everyone who takes part will receive a chocolate bunny made by Cocoadance of Castleton – and there’s a giant 4kg egg, by Holdsworth of Bakewell, for the overall winner.
Entry is free, but donations are being invited for Neurocare. Simply collect a game sheet from Cocoa, then hunt in the local shop windows for the answers.
“This is the perfect opportunity to collaborate with other shops and work together as a community,” added Kate.
“It’s already had an effect. We’ve made friends on the way and we’re hoping it will now lead to a regular monthly meeting for traders.”
