Ben Keegan is CEO of Sheffield charity Roundabout, which supports homeless youngsters. A keen musician, he has three sons and lives in Walkley with partner Justine.
Are you a cook?
I cook. Does that count? It’s one of my favourite activities with my sons and I’ve cooked with young people at the hostel too, as part of their life skills sessions.
Any cooking tips?
Experiment. Recipe books give you ideas but I like to have my own twist on things... sometimes it works.
What’s your favourite dish?
When I cook with my sons it’s pork loins in a honey and mustard sauce.
And a drink to go with it?
Very kind of you… a nice full bodied red wine, I think.
Your favourite restaurant in the Sheffield area?
I love The York and The Milestone but probably VeroGusto is my favourite.
The Grapes on Trippet Lane. I love the music and the people. It instantly makes me feel warm and fuzzy… or maybe that’s the Guinness.
What’s the worst meal you’ve ever had?
At a local pub, I ordered gammon. It took ages and eventually turned up hugely over cooked, dry and rock hard.
And the best?
I love Justine’s Thai Chicken Soup. The first time she made it for me was the best meal I can remember.
Your favourite TV cook?
Cookery programmes bore me rigid.
What do you think of Sheffield as a place to eat out?
It’s great, plenty of choice. Other favourites include the Rajput in Commonside or Pho 68 Vietnamese.
