Are you a cook?

Absolutely. I love to cook and cook most nights at home.

Any cooking tips?

Read a few recipes then close the books and make it up! This doesn’t work with baking or pastry but for general dishes be creative.

What’s your favourite dish?

I do love a steak but also varied and different flavours. For this you can’t go wrong with tapas or small plates. The Rutland Arms chef Rico does a great small plate menu of three for £10.

And drink to go with it?

A Chablis or a Malbec

Pub?

For a local I drink in the Rose and Crown at Wisewood or the Wisewood Inn.

Worst meal?

A terrible experience of squid stuffed with a cheese and garlic sauce while on holiday in Greece.

Best meal?

My wife and I got married in Edinburgh three years ago. We didn’t invite anyone and had a great week of private indulgence. Our wedding meal was in Tom Kitchens main restaurant in Leith where we had an amazing 12 course tasting meal with matched wine flight.

Favorite TV cook?

Hugh Fearnley Whittingstall.

What do you think of Sheffield as a place to eat out?

Good and getting better! We don’t have the frivolity of London, Leeds or Manchester. We do have a wide range of great options of different eating experiences for different people and budgets.
