David Aunins is the newly appointed centre manager of Lakeside Village outlet

shopping centre in Doncaster and loves indulging his foodie side in Sheffield.

Are you a cook?

Yes, I went to catering college, originally with a career in catering in mind.

Any cooking tips?

Try and use fresh ingredients wherever possible, and cook from scratch.

What’s your favourite dish?

I’ve been fortunate enough to have travelled to India, Vietnam and China, so enjoy all types of Asian Cuisine. At the moment it’s a spicy Balinese fish curry.

And a drink to go with it?

English rose wine

Your favourite restaurant in the Sheffield area?

Sheffield has so many great restaurants, it’s impossible to choose just one!

And pub?

I’ll go for Kelham Island and say the Riverside. Great for a drink or two in the sun.

What’s the worst meal you’ve ever had?

The duck’s feet in oyster sauce I ate in a Kowloon restaurant was amongst one of the more memorably unremarkable meals I’ve ever had. I didn’t realise what I’d ordered.

And the best?

I had a truly outstanding meal at the two Michelin star Gidleigh Park, near Exeter.

Your favourite TV cook?

He’s on the fringes of TV, but as he’s twice won BBC2’s Great British Menu I think Colin McGurran should be a regional treasure.

What do you think of Sheffield as a place to eat out?

I think the food scene is developing and improving so fast. You don’t have to travel too far to find something that will amaze your palate.
