The Schoolrooms café and deli at Low Bradfield has been taken over by the team that runs successful Little Mesters at Kelham Island Museum.
Nicola and David Briggs, who met while working at the Cutlers’ Hall, have turned the museum café into a thriving business, including bistro nights and outside catering.
“We’re delighted with customer feedback here and we want to take that passion and inject it into The Schoolrooms,” says Nicola.”It has so much potential but just needs a bit of love.”
The former village school was transformed into a butchery and deli two years ago by local farmer John Woodhouse and his partner Rachel Hague.
Nicola and David were looking for expansion opportunities when they heard The Schoolrooms was available for lease – and jumped at the chance.
They took over the premises last week, retaining all existing staff, and are now giving it their own stamp.
Locally-sourced meat, bread, dairy products and preserves are now available. The Schoolrooms café is open seven days a week, 9am-5pm. Bistro evenings are planned later in the year.
