New Sheffield club combines beer and cycling

Independent brewery BrewDog, which has a branch on Division Street in the city centre, has now launched a new social club bringing together the two hobbies of ale and riding.

BrewDog Chain Gang will encourage riders to meet for group rides before a post saddling treat at bars, dubbed Clubhouses for the cycling project.

The club is aimed at experienced cyclists who enjoy creating interesting routes and encouraging best practice whilst riding.

BrewDog cofounder James Watt said: “There has always been a natural crossover between craft beer fans and cycling fans.

“Both are driven by a passion for exploration, discovering the road less travel, and are powered by hugely passionate communities.

“Our fans who are avid cyclists have been using BrewDog bars as unofficial Clubhouses for years.

“With BrewDog Chain Gang, we wanted to turn it up a gear by helping our community unite their two passions of beer and bikes.

“Through our global network of 50 bars, we can create awesome cycling hubs spanning Sheffield to Stockholm, and Brighton to Barcelona giving people the opportunity to meet new people, see new places and try new beers.”

Information on club events will be shared at the bar itself and through the Strava website which is popular with cyclists.

Residents will also have the chance to become ride leaders through the new club.
