Chef Jack Baker is launching his new brasserie with a party next Thursday – and he’s inviting customers old and new to join in the celebration.
Jack (pictured below) is now in charge at The Beauchief in Abbeydale Road South. Its relaunch, as JackBaker’s Great NorthernBrasserie, will be marked on May 2 with an open house party from 3.30 - 11pm; everybody welcome.

A new website, set up by Sheffield Students’ Union, is putting food from around the world at our fingertips.
The site – www.worldcookbook.co.uk – features traditional recipes shared by students from across the globe during last week’s World Food Festival at Sheffield City Hall.The project has been put together by Sheffield Students’ Union with help from the International Students’ Committee and will grow each year as future events are staged.
ARTISAN SUMMER SCHOOL
The School of Artisan Food on the Welbeck estate near Worksop is to run two six-day summer schools.
The centre is offering hands-on experience of artisan food production. Small, informal classes will learn traditional skills including bread baking, cheesemaking and butchery. Courses run June 10-15 and August 12-17: www.schoolofartisanfood.org
CAREER CIRCLE OF SUCCESS
Loyal employee Craig Allsop has been appointed catering manager at Napoleon’s casino and restaurant – where he began his career as a barman more than a decade ago.
Craig originally joined the Ecclesall Road operation in 2002, working his way up to bar manager. He then became restaurant manager at Owlerton Greyhound Stadium until his latest promotion.
