Are you a cook?
Yes, I’m a hands-on cook as well as being front of house. My husband isn’t so good, so I’m teaching him to make a meal now our girls have left home!
Any cooking tips?
Enjoy it! If you don’t panic, things usually turn out okay.
What’s your favourite dish?
Tapas. My daughter did a year in Alicante during her Spanish degree – we visited her three times and I’ve been spoiled with ‘proper’ tapas.
And a drink to go with it?
Got to be Rioja with those tapas.
Your favourite restaurant in the Sheffield area?
I’m always trying to get back to Alicante so, for me, the best local tapas are at the Manor House, Dronfield.
The Peacock at Owler Bar has a lovely atmosphere for a family meal and drink.
What’s the worst meal you’ve ever had?
At a local steak house. The burgers were greasy, under cooked and coleslaw sour.
And the best?
Tapas at La Tasca or Simply Chinese in Dronfield. We’ve had some lovely meals there and try something different every time.
Your favourite TV cook?
Gordon Ramsay –I’ve always admired his passion.
What do you think of Sheffield as a place to eat out?
Brilliant now. There are so many different kinds of places which have opened since the days when I first started work at Cole Brothers.
