Shopkeeper Chris Beech is taking Sheffield Food Festival to Walkley this weekend, for a tasting session of his award-winning sausages – including the Sheffield Secret, specially created for the festival three years ago.
Chris will also be launching his latest invention: the Sheffield Secret Sausage Roll, available at Beeches ‘inner-city farm shop’ on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
And those enjoying the city-centre celebrations won’t have to miss out. The sausages will also be available at Simmonites, Division Street, along with Whirlow Farm pork, Sheffield Honey and Beeches’ Mustard.
Cool reception at Rafters
Rafters may be hot property in the restaurant stakes, but its owners know how to keep their cool... The award-winning Nether Green eaterie is this week being fitted with air conditioning, to ensure that diners don’t overheat on warm evenings. This is the latest improvement undertaken by head chef Tom Lawson and manager Alistair Myers since they took over in December.
National Vegetarian Week Sharrow-based co-operative Regather is celebrating National Vegetarian Week with a four-course supper prepared by city chef Komal Khan from local produce. The event, from 7pm tonight (Thursday) at Regather Works, also includes a talk by growers from Full Circle Farm. Tickets £25.
Sheffield’s Pop-Up Pudding Club meets on Tuesday at Homemade by Thelma’s in Nether Edge. Owners May and Emily will double as guest chefs alongside Laura Bainbridge, from Seven Hills WI, who will also be creating a dessert for the event. The theme this time is classic American puddings. Tickets £15.
