The first bank holiday in May is fast approaching - bringing the Great British Food Festival to the region.

From May 5-7 Hardwick Hall will play host to with wonderful food and drink producers, headline chef demonstrations, foodie talks, live music to enjoy on the lawns and a ‘Cake Off’.

The Cake Off is a popular part of the festival, where amateur bakers going head to head to win a prize from Kenwood.

Howard Middleton, the Sheffield star of the Great British Bake Off, will help judge one of the days.
He said: ‘I love demoing at the shows and the highlight of the weekend is judging the public cake off.

“The effort people put into their cakes is simply staggering and I learn from these showstoppers every time.

“So get baking and bring a cake to enter. I can’t wait to try them and you might even win a prize!’

The chef demonstration stage will once again welcomes great names from the Bake Off, also including Julia Chernogorova, Sandy Docherty and Howard.

Alongside the celebrity chefs, some of the best regional talent will be showcasing their skills; from baking tips to fine dining know-how, the demo theatre is the place to be for any budding chef!

Dan Maycock, festival director, said~ “We’re thrilled to announce the great chefs at this year’s event.

“The ‘Cake Off’ competition is great fun, it’s fantastic to see the public entries and what they can do, and all bakes get free entry to the event with their cake.”

The event has lots of artisan producers who will also be showcasing the best in seasonal, and speciality food and drink.

Pulled pork, prime steak and local sausages are just a few of the flavours you can enjoy. For those with less traditional tastes, why not sample an ostrich burger or enjoy tasty Thai and Caribbean flavours? Organisers have also teamed up with the Sheffield Telegraph to give away ten family tickets to the festival, for entry on one day for two adults and three children.
