THIS Is The Life chart-topper Amy Macdonald has postponed her Sheffield City Hall concert tonight (Saturday) due to illness.

The 25-year-old Scottish star is suffering from stomach bug gastroenteritis.

It has resulted in postponing her city date tonight and another show tomorrow at Brighton The Dome.

Fans have been advised to keep their tickets for rescheduled dates, which will be announced shortly.

Her concert dates from Tuesday next week are expected to go ahead as planned.

An official statement released today said: “It is with great regret that we are having to postpone two of Amy Macdonald shows - tonight at Sheffield City Hall and tomorrow at Brighton The Dome.

“Amy has been struck down with gastroenteritis and is not well enough to perform.

“We apologise for any disappointment caused but are sure Amy’s fans will understand and wish her as we do, a speedy recovery.

“At this stage Amy’s Corn Exchange show next Tues, March 12, is still on.

“Please keep your tickets as they will be able to be used for the forthcoming rescheduled shows, to be announced as soon as possible.

“Otherwise tickets can be refunded from the point of purchase.”

Macdonald rose to fame in 2007 with her debut album, This Is the Life (2007) and its fourth single, the album’s title track.

The single charted at number one in six countries, while reaching the top ten in another 11.

The success of the single achieved Macdonald success in the American music market, where she has been a special guest on top TV shows including The Ellen DeGeneres Show and The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson, in 2008.

Don’t Tell Me That It’s Over was released in March 2010 as the lead single from her second studio album, A Curious Thing, which was released in March 2010.

Five singles have since been released from the album.

Macdonald’s third album, Life in a Beautiful Light, was released in June last year.
