Paul Pashley: Sheffield swing singer will headline Party In The Park charity concert at Bakewell Showground on Saturday, September 1, 2012.

The Party In The Park event, which will celebrate the big band era and is set to attract 3,000 people, is jointly organised by Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice and Ashgate Hospice, with the aim of raising vital funds.

Vintage and memorabilia stalls, plus a range of refreshments, will also be on offer at Bakewell Showground on Saturday, September 1, from 2pm. The show starts at 4pm.

Music lovers are urged to turn up in retro wartime outfits but they are being promised more than a nostalgic trip down memory lane to round off the summer’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations.

Paul Pashley and his 17-piece big band will perform timeless Rat Pack classics and belt out swing arrangements of modern pop favourites by the likes of the Arctic Monkeys and Thin Lizzy.

His set-list includes new songs written especially for him by Take That’s Gary Barlow, rock legend Bryan Adams and his Grammy award-winning producer Eliot Kennedy.
