GUITAR hero Joe Bonamassa will play his biggest ever Sheffield date with a concert at the Motorpoint Arena next week – and YOU could meet him.

Our first prize is for one lucky winner and a guest to go backstage to say hello and tickets to see the 34-year-old New Yorker who is taking the music world by storm.

Three runners up will get a pair of tickets each to the show to see Bonamassa and his touring band on Saturday, March 24.

Hailed as the new messiah for guitar music lovers and certainly one of the greatest young blues guitarists of his generation, the award-winning singer-songwriter was discovered at the age of 12 by blues legend BB King.

His early influences include Guitar Slim, Bonnie Raitt, Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young, Eric Clapton and Jethro Tull.

Championed by Eric Clapton, his precision guitar playing has now become something of a revelation and honours include Breakthrough Artist of the Year at the 2009 Classic Rock Magazine Awards.

He was voted Best Overall Guitarist and Best Blues Guitarist in Guitar Player Magazine’s  2010 Reader’s Choice Awards.

Fresh off his successful European tour with Black Country Communion, a supergroup also featuring Glenn Hughes, Jason Bonham and Derek Sherinian, they have had rave reviews for their album, called 2.

In March last year, Bonamassa also released his eleventh full-length solo album, Dust Bowl, followed in September of by a collaboration with Beth Hart called Don’t Explain.

His forthcoming UK tour will see him perform material from Dust Bowl, plus songs from his vast catalogue of albums including A New Day Yesterday, The Ballad of John Henry, Sloe Gin and Black Rock. 

He will be touring with his band, including Carmine Rojas on bass, Rick Melick on keyboards and Tal Bergman on drums.
