At one time, the odds were stacked against Joe Cocker making 70 because of his alcohol and drug-fuelled lifestyle.
But the Sheffield-born singer reached the milestone on Tuesday, long settled into clean living contentment with wife Pam on his Mad Dog Ranch in Colorado. These days his passions are growing tomatoes and trout fishing.
Sheffield-based biographer JP Bean said: “A lot of people didn’t expect Joe to live to 30, let along 70. Many of his contemporaries had fallen. But in recent years he has cleaned up his life considerably. He doesn’t drink or smoke.”
Joe and Pam are looking to downsize, with Mad Dog Ranch on the market.
