Melanie C back to spice up Sheffield in 2012

SPICING up the music scene next year in Sheffield will be former Spice Girl Melanie C - who is bringing her six-date UK tour to the city which became her second home, writes Graham Walker.

Melanie, aged 37, who turned on the Christmas lights on the Real Radio stage last month, recorded some of the first Spice Girls album in the city with producer pal Eliot Kennedy.

He helped to launch her solo career with world-wide hit When You’re Gone, the duet he co-wrote for and with Canadian rock superstar Bryan Adams.

Now she’s leapt at the chance to celebrate Leap Year back in Sheffield - performoing at the O2 Academy on Wednesday, February 29, 2012.

Since going solo in 1999 she has enjoyed two chart-topping singles, with Never Be The Same and I Turn To You, six top 10 singles and over three million album sales.

She has released three albums on her own Red Girl Records – launched in 2004 – with Beautiful Intentions, This Time and latest album, The Sea.

The Northern Star will be promoting her pulsating new album in Manchester, Newcastle, Glasgow, Sheffield, London then Birmingham.
