SHEFFIELD musicians were among the winners at the BBC Folk Awards this week.
Singer and fiddle player Jon Boden is the frontman with the 11-piece band Bellowhead, which won the best group and best live act categories. Bellowhead was shortlisted for best album and traditional track.
Jon Boden was shortlisted for Folk Singer of the Year while his partner, Fay Hield, was in the running for a Horizon award.
Nancy Kerr and James Fagan, the singer/fiddle player and Australian singer/bouzouki player who have also settled in Sheffield, were voted Best Duo in the ceremony in London.
Barnsley singer Kate Rusby presented an award and performed.
Dolly back on stage
DOLLY Parton will play at Sheffield Motorpoint Arena as part of a UK tour to promote her latest album, Better Day. She will be taking her new and classic repertoire (which includes 9 to 5 and Jolene) to nine UK cities.
Dolly said: “I am really looking forward to this and I can’t wait to see all the fans again.”
