Fans are invited to spend An Evening with John Otway when the veteran singer-songwriter arrives in Sheffield this weekend.

The 65-year-old has built up a huge fan base through extensive touring, a surreal sense of humour and a self deprecating underdog persona.

Despite being well known for his “sometimes shambolic, anything-can-happen shows”, he has managed to sell out London’s Astoria many times, the Royal Albert Hall and has appeared regularly at Glastonbury and Edinburgh Festivals.

One of his songs was voted the nation’s seventh favourite lyric of all time beating Bob Dylan and Paul Simon in the process.

In 2012 he produced Otway, The Movie: The Story of Rock n Roll’s Greatest Failure.

Featuring footage from iconic Sheffield venue The Boardwalk, it was voted the nation’s second best film of the year in a poll by The Guardian newspaper.

He plays The Greystones on Saturday, April 7. For tickets, priced from £13, visit mygreystones.co.uk
