Bon Jovi tribute act Bon Giovi are playing at Real Time Live in Marsden Street, Chesterfield on Sunday (December 29, 2013) and we have two pairs of tickets to be won, writes Graham Walker.
Real Time Live was opened in 2012 by owners Niki and Mark Stephenson.
It has quickly become one of Chesterfield’s leading live music venues, presenting many of the UK’s top tribute bands and the best in original rock, blues, metal and indie.
Formerly a music venue, hosting bands such as Pulp, it was known in the 1980s as the Conservative Club.
It was originally erected in the 19th century by steam locomotives inventor George Stephenson - no relation to the new owners. But the building had fallen into disrepair in recent years.
Family, friends and customers, including builders, helped to transform into the music shop and live venue success story it is today, explained mum of two Niki.
Real Time Music relocated from its shop on Newbold Road and opened the doors in Marsden Street two years ago in January. Local chart legend Dave Berry performed the honours. The music venue opened in June 2012.
Niki said: “I actually burst into tears the first time I walked through the door at Marsden Street – the task ahead seemed so huge. But we were soon amazed by the offers of help that came pouring in.
“Many friends took annual leave from their jobs to plaster, paint and generally help out, and the place slowly started to take shape. It’s fair to say, we simply couldn’t have done it without them, and it showed us how much people believed in what we were doing.
“In the end, we completely transformed the building – it’s been a total labour of love.”
Now they have a huge list of events throughout 2014. For full details visit the official web sites at www.realtimelive.moonfruit.com and www.realtimemusic.co.uk. Like its Facebook page at www.facebook.com/realtimelivemusicvenue.
