Wuthering Heights star Kate Bush isn’t touring but you can experience her live thanks to tribute act Cloudbusting - we have Sheffield tickets up for grabs, writes Graham Walker.
She had 25 UK Top 40 hit singles, including the top 10 hits The Man with the Child in His Eyes, Babooshka, Running Up That Hill and Peter Gabriel duet Don’t Give Up.
Her only live tour was 26 years ago, though she did embarked on a series of 22 concerts last year at the Hammersmith Apollo.
But Mandy Watson, pictured, recreates her look and sound on stage with live musicians who form Cloudbusting. The tribute band are playing live dates including Sheffield O2 Academy 2 on Friday, March 27. Doors open 6.30pm.
Mandy said: “The minute I saw her on Top of the Pops back in ‘78 I was fascinated by Kate’s vocals - no-one else ever sounded like this!
“But when I bought The Kick Inside, I discovered there was so much more to her than ‘that voice.’ Her lyrics evoked stories and imagery that entwined effortlessly with unbelievably beautiful and challenging melodies.
“Ever since then I’ve been in awe of her. I still pinch myself that I get to sing songs from such a diverse repertoire, with a great bunch of guys who all share the same passion for Kate’s music. I get to play Tibetan Bells on Wild Man!”
Guarantee your place. Tickets are £13.50, including fees. Buy in person from O2 Academy Sheffield, 37 - 43 Arundel Gate, S1 2PN Sheffield, call 0844 477 2000 or visit www.o2academysheffield.co.uk.
