Indie rock icons Shed Seven, who helped to evolve the Britpop music scene during the 1990s, are back on the road – and we’re giving you the chance to meet them, writes Graham Walker.
Frontman Rick Witter and the band, whose greatest hits include Going For Gold, Disco Down and Chasing Rainbows, have anounced their first full UK tour in two years.
The acclaimed five piece and live act will be performing their greatest hits and a selection of fan favourites at 13 venues this December.
And it includes a stop at Sheffield O2 Academy, on Sunday, December 8.
We’re giving one lucky fan and a guest the chance to meet the band and tickets for the show at the venue.
Three runners-up will get a pair of tickets each.
Shed Seven have achieved great success since forming in 1990.
They’ve released four albums, had 14 Top 40 singles and to celebrate the 15th anniversary of landmark album A Maximum High in 2011 the band released a collector’s edition EP which featured brand new versions of some of the hit tracks from the album.
Since getting back together in 2007 for a massive 20 date tour, Shed Seven have continued to sell out shows across the UK.
This new December tour, with line-up of Rick, Paul Banks, Tom Gladwin, Joe Johnson and Alan Leach, follows last year’s appearances at T in the Park and V festival plus a selection of intimate live dates.
Lead singer Rick, aged 40, told The Star: “We’ve still got it, so yeah, we’re gonna flaunt it.
“We are looking forward to playing once more for our ever loyal following. See you at the front.”
