As the Sensoria festival of film and music approaches its 10th edition, the organisation has announced its biggest ever grant from Arts Council, England, with a two-year funding amounting to £100,000, along with an uplift in support from the British Film Institute, locally Sheffield Hallam University has doubled their sponsorship and there has also been an increased award from PRS for Music Foundation.
From September 30 to October 8 there is a packed programme of music, outdoor screenings, live soundtracks, special events, films and industry forum SensoriaPro.
Festival highlights so far include 3 Ring Circus featuring Richard Hawley, James Dean Bradfield (Manic Street Preachers) and Lou Doillon playing three shows all on the same night (October 6),
Metropolis at Magna Face of Steel on October 1 sees electronic duo Factory Floor bring their new soundtrack for a 90th anniversary screening of the silent classic by Fritz Lang. There will also be demos by Sheffield Robotics before the screening.
Film screenings include the English premiere of Rumble: The Indians Who Rocked the World introduced by Richard Hawley, The Inertia Variations and many more. Outdoor screenings include La La Land on South Street Amphitheatre overlooking Sheffield’s skyline.
