Dancing and romancing

Couples who met at a famous Sheffield ballroom are invited to return for a Valentine’s special.

Complimentary pink fizz and chocolates will be scattered across the tables as Sheffield City Hall’s regular tea dance takes on a romantic feel tomorrow to mark Valentine’s Day – and organisers hope couples who met in the ballroom will return.

‘Romance cards’ will also be available for people to write in to share any City Hall-related romantic stories.

Richard Hunter, City Hall general manager, said: “We are finding new ways to reach out to the influx of ballroom dancing fans.

“We hope the Valentine-themed tea dance will encourage some heartwarming stories from couples who have attended the dances together over the years, or even met here. Or maybe someone knows of a story from a friend or relative which relates to our venue or past tea dances – we would love to hear from them.

“Having a theme makes it more special for people who come each week, but also offers something a bit different to a new audience. We are hoping to book in more themed dances over the coming year.”
