The new Heresy lager

The ‘Heresy’ lager, part of the Brewers’ Emporium range, has eye-catching artwork from designer James Murphy.

It will be launched at the brewery’s Sunfest beer festival, taking place  at the Rising Sun in Nether Green from today until Sunday, July 14.

Made in the style of a continental lager, with a clean, crisp flavour and refreshing finish, it will be available in keg and 440ml can.

Brewery director Dan Baxter said: “It’s about being able to offer something we produce to absolutely everyone.

“Recipe development has been underway for many months, which was definitely time well spent.

“W e’re thrilled with the final outcome and can’t wait for everyone to try it!”

Brewery owner Sue Morton added: "It’s always been an ambition of ours to have a lager as part of our core range, and it’s been a long time coming for us.

“We’ve had the name Heresy in mind for our lager since our beginnings in 1996, so it’s very exciting for us to see that the name finally has a lager to belong to!"

Abbeydale Brewery’s ongoing expansion includes two new units at their site just off Abbeydale Road.

The new space will allow for increased  capacity there  and  for public entry to any  special events that take place.
