A 50-year-old man has been charged with possession of an offensive weapon in a public place following his arrest in Sheffield city centre.

Michael Haynes has also been charged with section 4 public order offence, which refers to fear or provocation of violence.

Alison Cundy from Sheffield Central neighbourhood policing team said: “Good work by our officers in the city centre at the weekend.

"He (Haynes) has been remanded into custody and will be appearing at Crown Court on the 22 September.”
