Mikel Arteta praised Sheffield United after his Arsenal side sneaked into the FA Cup semi-finals at Bramall Lane earlier today.

Nicolas Pepe's first-half penalty looked like it would be all that separated the sides but late drama saw David McGoldrick equalise, before substitute Dani Ceballos won it for the Gunners in injury time.

United earlier had goals by John Lundstram and John Egan ruled out, and have now lost three of their four games since the restart, drawing the other.

But despite United’s poor form, Arteta was under no illusions about the size of his side’s victory.

"I am really pleased," the Spaniard said.

"It is a really tough place to come and we got the result we wanted. We fought right until the end and I really liked the attitude of the team.

"They are really good at what they do. They put you under pressure all the time with their direct play. They put you in trouble.

"We dealt with that really well but you know at some stage you are going to suffer. We did but the reaction straight away was really good."
