Women get down to business to inspire others

A NEW group has been launched to raise the profile of Sheffield's business women.

Inspiring Women has been set up with the backing of Sheffield Chamber of Commerce and will be led by a 13-strong board made up of successful business women from across the city business region, chaired by Halliwells solicitors managing partner Suzanne Liversidge.

Suzanne Liversidge said: "Inspiring Women is not claiming that businesswomen in Sheffield are disadvantaged. We only have to look to our own forum's board to recognise that.

"Our business backgrounds include stories that are heart-warming, humorous and in some cases truly humbling when we see what women can achieve. But we know there is untapped talent out there that needs to be unearthed and we hope Inspiring Women will help us to do just that.

"It is all about increasing the visibility of the fantastic women who work in our city region ."

Inspiring Women says its events will be aimed at the business community at large, with male speakers as well as female, and is encouraging women delegates to bring a male colleague with them.

Inspiring Women will hold an inaugural lunch at the Hilton Hotel in Sheffield on Friday September 14 when the guest speaker will be Julie Kenny, the founder and managing director of Rotherham-based electronic security equipment manufacturer Pyronix, a director of Secure Holdings, the online secure payments business, and the British Security Industry Association.
