Returning to education can be daunting. But if you have a genuine interest and want to succeed, then you can – and the University of Sheffield is offering a helping hand to help you do just that.

Perhaps you want to return to study to enhance your career, or simply to discover more about a subject which you love.

Whatever the reason, The Department for Lifelong Learning, based at the University of Sheffield, offers over 40 different degrees with a foundation year ranging from history and politics to environmental science and speech and language therapy.

There’s a chance to find out more at a special open evening on Tuesday November 21, at The Discovery Rooms, Level 5 University of Sheffield Students' Union, Western Bank, University of Sheffield.

The drop-in event takes place from 5pm-8pm.

A lack of traditional entry qualifications is no barrier

The Department for Lifelong Learning offers degrees with foundation years to those who are 21 or over, and those who have been out of education for over two years.

After successfully completing the foundation year, students can progress onto one of over 40 degree courses.

People considering this next step can be reassured that work and life experience are highly valued, and a lack of traditional entry qualifications is no barrier to entry.

The Department for Lifelong Learning’s annual mature student opening evening will give people the opportunity to find out more about the different routes for mature learners into higher education at the University of Sheffield. Representatives from a wide range of university support services will be present to explain the types of support that is available for mature students.
