The announcement will be made tomorrow morning at 10am, with a letter going out to all parents at the same time.

The decision on reopening was made earlier this week after director of public health Greg Fell made his recommendation to councillors.

Last month he said he was not satisfied it was safe to allow schools to reopen, and said he would review the situation in two weeks time.

However, in an interview with The Star last week, he said that while the number of cases was still high, the new ‘track and trace’ system may now be working well enough to allow it.

When schools do return parents have been warned they will look and feel very different from before the crisis, with big changes expected in the size of classes, timetables and teaching.
