Coronavirus: latest figures for Sheffield and South Yorkshire

Public Health England has released the latest figures for coronavirus cases across South Yorkshire today (March 20).

Sheffield remains the place with the largest number of cases, with the figure now at 48 as of this afternoon (March 20). Yesterday it was 40.

In Doncaster there are now three confirmed cases, up from two yesterday. The number in Rotherham has doubled since yesterday, and now stands at four.

There have been no more cases confirmed in Barnsley, where the total is seven.

In Sheffield one person has sadly died after testing positive for coronavirus.

As of 9am on 20 March 2020, 66,976 people have been tested in the UK, of which 62,993 were confirmed negative and 3,983 were confirmed positive.

As of 1pm, 177 patients in the UK who tested positive for coronavirus (COVID-19) have died.

Today Boris Johnson announced that all pubs, bars and restaurants would have to close.
