Coronavirus: six more deaths reported in Sheffield

A further six people who tested positive for coronavirus have died in Sheffield, NHS England have confirmed.

It brings the number of recorded hospital deaths in the city to 215 as of 5pm on Friday. The reporting of hospital deaths has a delay of at least 24 hours, NHS England said.

Across South Yorkshire: in Barnsley, 90 hospital deaths have now been recorded, an increase of 6 from yesterday. Threee new hospital deaths have been recorded in Rotherham since Saturday, taking the total to 107.

No more hospital deaths have been recorded by Doncaster & Bassetlaw NHS Foundation Trust, with the total there being 98.

Nationally, a further 327 people, who tested positive for the Coronavirus (Covid-19) have died, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals in England to 21,180.

The number does not give a true picture of fatalities overall, as it does not include deaths in care homes.
