It is exactly 12 months today, Friday, March 5, since a 70-year-old woman in Reading reportedly became the first Briton to die after contracting coronavirus.
The virus has since claimed more than 120,000 lives in the UK and people across the country are being asked to remember them on what has been dubbed Covid Memorial Day.

Hide AdOrganisers are asking people to share their memories, poems, songs and paintings using the #CovidMemorialDay hashtag to ensure all those we have lost are not forgotten.
They are asking people to light a candle and observe a minute’s silence this evening at 7pm.
Throughout the day, people have also been encouraged to find other ways to ‘feel the loss’, like taking a pebble to the top of a hill or walking through a park they enjoyed visiting with a late relative or friend.
