Sheffield coronavirus death toll stays static as 129 more people die in England

No more people have died with coronavirus at hospital in Sheffield since yesterday, leaving the city’s death toll static at 277.

A further 129 people, who tested positive for the Coronavirus (Covid-19) have died, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals in England to 27,619.

Elsewhere in South Yorkshire, the number of deaths in Rotherham stayed at 178, there was one more death in Barnsley where 130 have now died and there were six more fatalities in Doncatser, where 198 have now died.

The latest figures from NHS England are for confirmed deaths at hospitals in the 24 hours up to 5pm on Monday, June 8. They do not include deaths at care homes or elsewhere in the community.

Across all settings, 40,726 people are known to have died in the UK after testing positive for COVID-19.

To date, 287,399 people have tested positive for the disease in the UK,
