The decision was made public in the last few minutes after consultation with Sheffield Council following yesterday’s UK Government announcement, advising the public to stop non-essential contact and all non-essential travel.
The race, which was due to take place on March 29, will now happen on Sunday, September 27, the same date as the Sheffield 10k.

Hide AdA spokesperson said: “Understandably there will be a lot of disappointed runners but the safety of you the runners and the public must come first.
“We will be in touch shortly with all entrants directly to advise you of your options. The Sheffield Half will now be staged on Sunday September 27 alongside the Sheffield 10K.
“Should current entrants not be able to make this date, they will be offered the opportunity to transfer to another event. An email with further details will be sent to entrants later this week.
“Whilst we all enter a time of uncertainty both personally and professionally can we ask that we all remember why these events take place in the first place.

“The Sheffield Half Marathon and Sheffield 10K have to date raised over £1million for the events partner charities alone and so we know how important these events are to so many.
“Our team like you have spent hours, weeks and months preparing for these events and are as disappointed as you that we can’t deliver the event this month.
“We will continue to work tirelessly to ensure you have the best race day on experience on Sunday 27th September and will update you both on social and via email with any updates available.
