Sheffield primary school to close after ‘a number of positive Covid-19 cases’

A Sheffield primary school has been forced to close tomorrow as a precautionary measure after "a number of positive Covid-19 cases" were detected.

In a letter sent to parents on Thursday (March 18), Valley Park Primary and Nursery School in Norton Avenue, the school said the decision was made following discussion and advice from Public Health England.

"We have taken the decision to temporarily close Valley Park Community Nursery and Primary School on Friday 19 March.

"This has been done as a precautionary measure, given our commitment to the health and well-being of all children and staff."

The school said they will provide another update about arrangements for Monday, March 22.

Valley Park Primary is the latest school to be shut down over Covid-19 concerns.

On Wednesday, Ecclesall Primary on High Storrs Road was forced to send over 100 children to self-isolate after coronavirus cases were found in its Year 1 ‘bubbles’.
