Sheffield records most coronavirus cases in one day since pandemic hit

According to Government statistics, 159 people in the city tested positive for Covid-19 on Wednesday, September 30, though it should be noted that data for the most recent days is less reliable and can be revised either up or down.
The previous highest daily toll in the city was 110 on March 31 when testing was largely restricted to hospital settings. Now, anyone with symptoms is able to get tested at one of five testing sites across Sheffield.

Sheffield is currently listed as an ‘area of concern’ on the Government’s coronavirus watchlist, which is updated at the end of every week. There were 95 cases per 100,000 people in the seven days to September 27. The average area in England had 28.
