Four more people being treated for the deadly bug have passed away in Sheffield’s hospitals, according to the most recent data released today (January 4), bringing the total coronavirus-related fatalities across the city to 616.
A further three deaths was recorded in Doncaster, where the death toll stands at 579, and in Rotherham there have now been 439 deaths after six more were recorded.

Hide AdThe Barnsley death tally hit 432 after three additonal deaths.
Nationwide a further 376 people who tested positive for the virus have died, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals in England to 51,813.
Patients were aged between 26 and 102 years old. All except eighteen, aged 34 to 102 years old, had known underlying health conditions.
Date of death ranges from December 20 to January 3 with the majority being on or after December 29
Their families have been informed.
